According to Article 151 of the Labor Code 2019, the conditions for foreign workers in Vietnam are as follows.
Conditions for foreign workers in Vietnam
1. Foreign workers in Vietnam are those with foreign nationality and must meet the following conditions:
- a) Be at least 18 years old and have full civil capacity;
- b) Have professional qualifications, technical skills, work experience; have sufficient health as prescribed by the Minister of Health;
- c) Not be a person who is serving a criminal sentence or has not had their criminal record expunged or is being prosecuted for criminal liability under foreign law or Vietnamese law;
- d) Have a work permit issued by a competent state agency of Vietnam, except for cases stipulated in Article 154 of this Code.
2. The term of the labor contract for foreign workers in Vietnam must not exceed the term of the Work Permit. When employing foreign workers in Vietnam, both parties can agree to enter into multiple fixed-term labor contracts.
3. Foreign workers in Vietnam must comply with Vietnamese labor law and are protected by Vietnamese law, unless otherwise provided by international treaties to which the Socialist Republic of Vietnam is a member.
Therefore, foreign workers and foreign teachers wishing to work in Vietnam must be at least 18 years old and have full civil capacity.

Regulations on age limits or restrictions for teaching in Vietnam according to Article 169 and Clause 1, Article 219 of the Labor Code 2019 and Decree No. 135/2020/ND-CP are as follows:
According to the Labor Code 2019, the age limit for male workers is up to 61 years old; the age limit for female workers is up to 56 years and 4 months old.
Workers can retire when they reach the working age limit, so the retirement age for workers under normal working conditions will be:
- Retirement age for men in 2024 is 61 years old.
